Here’s a bunch of links to people, companies, and friends all fighting the good fight for one reason or another. A mini directory of anyone who has touched the BetaMan universe in some way, either through inspiration or just being involved.

Check them out:

PEOPLE

Aneta Bo Piotrowska’s MySpace.

www.myspace.com/anetabopiotrowska

Producer of all BetaMan Productions thus far.

Guy J Jackson’s MySpace.

www.myspace.com/storytellinguyjj

BetaMan collaborator, as well as extraordinary  performance poet, storyteller and space cookie. Moving to Los Angeles, cos he doesn’t think it’s weird enough just yet- let me tell you it’s about to go catastrophic on the kookometer!!! Other than that, check out his short films too, you’re more than likely to catch Aneta Bo or myself at some point.

Nick Newman’s MySpace.

www.myspace.com/heartignition

Nick Hope’s page shows he has all the talent you would wish Nick Hope would have. His music is beautiful and sincere, as well as haunting and melodic.

Max Davis’ MySpace.

www.myspace.com/Maxwdavis

Gotta Have Hopes very own Nick Payne, what a guy. Gun for hire? This guys an armored tank!

Ayu’s MySpace.

www.myspace.com/ayuokakita

Like the music in ’60 Second Love Affair’? Its all thanks to the Amazing Ayu. Few unsigned acts manage to meld the kooky as a goose on a stilt with the heart throbbing romantic while still managing to baffle you as to why they’re not all over the air waves. Give her some support. She’s a one woman Radiohead for chrissakes!!!!

CABINETS OF CURIOSITY

www.cabinets-of-curiosity.co.uk

Curated by Sarah Blake, COC are a theatre company who put together imaginative atmospheric installation and Theatre experiences. You may have seen them on Gormley’s plinth under Nelsons Column this summer. You may have seen the brilliant ‘Found’ at Trinity Buoy Warf.  Seek them out. Make sure you do see Sarah’s new play in the new year.

MADDY SARGENT

www.maddysargent.com

Maddy is an illustrator, graphic designer and artist, whose work can be seen on novel covers and hopefully in more and more interesting places soon.

MYYRKY

www.myyrky.com

Ruben Alfaro-Moreno is one of the UK’s most interesting photographic artists. His work is obsessed in the macabre of the suburbs and darkest (and goriest) parts of the human psyche. He visualizes that which we’ve only ever dared to indulge in those lost moments of paranoia before sleep. Just when you think the boogyman is real, cos he is and its you.

MEDIA WE LOVE

Empire film magazine.

www.empireonline.com

I’ve subscribed to this magazine since I was thirteen. It’s always had the right balance of fandom / respect for genuine works of cinematic art. Some may call it populist, I say- Duh!!!! Well done brainiac thats the whole friggin point of the mag, now freak off go carry a copy of Sight and Sound and last weeks Independent, both of which you never read..

JoBlo’s Website.

www.joblo.com

I love this movie site, it’s got everything a genre loving fanboy could want, news, reviews, angry rants about how much Dane Cook sucks. Mostly for major releases.

SUPPLIES AND HELPFUL ORGANIZATIONS

Indie Kit

www.indiekit.co.uk

A great place to pick up supplies online. Shipping can be pricy, but great for bulbs and all those little bits of kit that make the shoot that little bit smother.

NATIONAL THEATRE COSTUME HIRE

http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/20631/costume-amp-props-hire/costume-hire-store.html

Its not free, but if you’re looking for that awkward piece of costume you’d be a fool not to take a trip to Oval. the staff are helpful, there’s fitting rooms and the prices are pretty acceptable. They do however only hire on a weekly basis. So if you only need a costume for an afternoon, it might seem a little steep. The longer you hire them for the better the price will appear.

BFI website

www.bfi.org.uk

Yup, if it weren't for these guys, old films would never be seen, shorts would be ignored and your only chance of getting your films seen by anyone with any rep would be to break into their house and Ludvicho technique the muthas. Take my advice- that don’t work!

PCR

www.pcrnewsletter.com

PCR are a great way to get hold of actors. Generally people are more than willing to help out. Actors willing to do unpaid work as long as you tell people up front.  The only draw back is that although its a website it also publishes ads in a physical newsletter. So I’d advise getting casting submissions in early. Casting notices are free.

Casting Call Pro

www.uk.castingcallpro.com

Same as PCR although they don’t publish a newsletter, it’s entirely Website/Email based, and a good source for actors, and crew. Free to submit casting calls.

TRINITY BUOY WARF

www.trinitybuoywarf.com

London’s only light house is a great space over the river from the O2 arena, and yet couldn't be more commercial. the electrician house is a great space for atmospheric theatre, and they also have a huge warehouse where used to be a buoy factory. Enjoy a burger at a genuine american diner. climb the lighthouse to emerse yourself in the living electronic soundscape or marvel at the container city. It’s a great place for the arts. As well as a great place to take a few foreboding shots of the city. (East India tube. (DLR))
